I met Ms. Margie approximately 11 years ago in the preschool, and I worked with her teaching the 4 years old. She had a 4 yr. old class next to me. She helped me find my way, I had not worked with the Abeka Curriculum. Ms. Margie had a positive attitude and was friendly and helpful to me. I watched as she taught, she was my mentor. I worked with her approximately 3 years in preschool. She went up to Kindergarten. Then I had the opportunity to go up to Kindergarten and work with her again. I felt blessed, she then taught me the ropes for Kindergarten. Then I went to first grade for one year and she once again she showed me the way. Any questions I had she was there to answer. She has a good work ethic. She loves teaching and enjoys what she does. She taught me everything she knew about Kindergarten and first grade, and this helped me greatly. I find her to be an honest and caring person with a good demeanor. Also if she sees something wrong she is not afraid to say how she feels. She looks for the best in people. Margie's husband Pastor Danny Barrios died 7 yrs. ago this December(2004). I worked with her at the time, and when he died a gray cloud seemed to cover our school with sadness and loss. She carried on and I knew that this was the most difficult time in her life. I remember one morning in particular, she was not at our teachers meeting and I walked in to see what happened to her. I asked why she was not there. She said I just could not do it this morning. I miss my husband so much and am grieving his loss. She was so strong through the most difficult days of her life. She remained faithful to God. She has a tremendous faith, and has had many trials, but remains true to her beliefs. She encourages those around her. She has such strong family ties. She is very close to her own children, as well as to her sisters and brother. She remains close to Danny's family. Her children are respectful, kind and helpful. She has a great sense of humor. We teachers enjoy a good laugh and sometimes she has us laughing hysterically. In the teaching field you need to have a good sense of humor. Whenever we teachers plan an outing (dinner, movies, Mission Inn) she goes with us. She is outgoing, she carries herself with respect. She has had many adversities in her life. But she never gives up! I know because she has shared things with me, the challenges in life. She is well organized in her room, keeps a very clean room, and well decorated for every occasion. She cares greatly about each child's learning and understanding. She looks for the best in each child she teaches. I noticed she jokes with the children quite often, and hugs them and is nuturing. I also noticed if they are interested in sports, modeling, whatever it is she encourages them. She wants each child to enjoy first grade. She also tutors those children that need extra help. She is the person that organizes all the field trips for us, makes all the calls, collects all the money, and makes sure every child has a seat in someones car. She is our travel planner. We have chapel every Friday, and each teacher has to have songs and a theme. I noticed that she works hard for her class to do a great performance on stage. This all takes preparation, organization and hard work. Ms. Margie has been at Bundy for 13 years. She has worked at other schools in Orange County and if I am not mistaken she was very close in getting her Associates Degree(AA) in teaching. I am very grateful to have her as a team player @ Bundy. She has taught me many things. She once told me that my grade book is like my bible (keep it close at all times). She also taught me how to use my planner (listing daily curriculum). All I can say is that she has been my mentor, teacher, and someone I can go to if I have any questions. I call her my friend!
